I LOVE Ya, Iluka Espresso and Waterfront Café!
Tucked along Portage Inlet close to the Craigflower Bridge is a delightful café where specialty coffees, teas, smoothies and delicious light fare can be enjoyed on a sunny patio overlooking beautiful views.
Iluka (“I-Luke-uh”) is an Australian Aboriginal name meaning "by the sea". The bonus for my friends in scooters and wheelchairs is that Iluka is a barrier-free space with super friendly staff, a spacious bathroom, and not a stair in sight!
I suggest popping in for a delicious treat: try the famous Iluka Bun, a tropical twist on the classic cinnamon bun - be quick, they’re often gone by noon. After your snack or light meal go for a stroll like I did, along the beautifully landscaped Gorge Waterway Park.
What I loved about it:
Iluka’s owner, Salina, has created a welcoming environment with local handmade goods and furniture where people can connect over outstanding coffee on a picture perfect patio. Top notch customer service too!
Accessibility Features:
spacious wheelchair accessible bathroom
accessible parking
friendly accommodating staff
access to the Gorge Park Waterway Path and Craigflower-Kosapsom Park
Final Verdict:
Stop by for a smoothie, a snack and a stroll (I did all three) ~ you won’t be disappointed!
We visited on a warm and sunny summer day, and afterwards the walk along the Gorge was lovely with the manicured gardens, visuals of people enjoying the calm waterway in kayaks and SUP’s, and the gentle refreshing breeze.
Anyway you look at it, this outing is Girl About Town approved!
