I popped by Sea Cider the other day and OMG,
what a beautiful little gem waiting to be discovered!
What I loved about it:
The setting! The cidery takes full advantage of the beautiful view of the apple orchard, the ocean, Gulf Islands and beyond.
The cider was delicious! My favourite was the Bramble Bubbly, a delicious combination of blackberry and apple crafted into a wonderful semi-dry sparkling liquid magic, but don’t take my word for it, get the long flight (six 2oz samples) and decide for yourself.
We also shared the Artisan Meat and Cheese Plate which featured a selection of local meats and organic cheeses, pickles, delicious crackers, grainy mustard and local jam - yum!
Check out the website for when food trucks are on site (usually Fridays), and event offerings such as yoga or horse drawn carriage rides , or order a picnic box from Toque Catering to enjoy in the orchard.
Accessibility Features:
I loved that the deck, tasting room and washroom were wheelchair accessible. The Ciderhouse and deck are at ground level so easily navigated, the wheelchair accessible bathroom is spacious and clean, and the friendly staff are eager to accommodate. There is an accessible parking stall.
Final verdict:
This is one you definitely don’t want to miss. Pick a beautiful day and come thirsty with your trusty DD.
The Ciderhouse is open for tastings and tours year-round daily from 11am - 6pm. The cider is award-winning and the setting overlooking the apple orchard and Haro Strait to James Island is fantastic. This is one of the Saanich peninsula’s not-so-secret guilty pleasures.
